Summer is just around the corner, and whatís summer without great music?
This sunny season, everyone is invited to Airdrie Public Library (APL) to stock up on music for those summer road trips, thanks to our great e-resource, Freegal.
Freegal Music Service has already proved popular at APL and now the digital resource has announced a major upgrade. Freegal 4.0 has taken music to a whole new level with the addition of nearly 4.5 million new songs. This means that users have more than seven million songs from which to choose as they stock up on favourites to while away those long lazy weekends by the barbecue.
For Freegal, itís not just the number of songs available Ė itís also about quality. Freegal 4.0 features:
fantastic music labels, including Barsuk Records, French Kiss Records, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Sesame Street Records, Musart (Mexico's biggest label) and Fierce Panda Records (premier U.K. label);
popular artists such as Dead Kennedys, Steve Aoki, Nine Inch Nails and Boyz II Men;
expansion of classical and jazz collections; and
music from close to 100 other countries around the globe.
The newly refurbished resource also has a new search engine to make browsing that much easier.
So drop by APL and enjoy the sweet sounds of summer by downloading three songs a week for free.
Families with children aged birth to five: donít forget to stop by Friday for a visit to the ever-popular C.O.W. (Classroom on Wheels) Bus. The bus, which offers lots of fun literacy activities, will be at the library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be several activities inside the library, too.
