Our newsmakers are inspiring Airdronians

Dec 28, 2011 04:08 pm

Every year, we honour those residents in Airdrie who have made a difference in the community for better or worse.

We are thrilled to say that most of our newspapers in 2011 have been full of inspiring Airdronians.

From a local boy who has never given up on his dream to get all homeless children off the streets, to a talented gymnast winning a world championship, these stories warm hearts and encourage residents to be all they can be.

Airdrie really is a city with a small-town heart. The number of newsmakers who volunteer to bring the community together, help those in need and improve local facilities is incredible.

Whether it is yearly events like the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life, Empty Bowls Festivals, Tour de Airdrie, Mayor’s Run, Supplies 4 Success, Festival of Lights and Lioness Christmas Hampers, or a special event such as the Airdrie Air Show and Alberta Arts Days, Airdronians never cease to donate their time and money and lend a helping hand when it is needed.

It is exciting to be a part of such an invigorating community. Every year, thousands of residents are attracted to Airdrie and it is clear to see why.

This is a great city to settle down and raise your family in. The people of Airdrie are all neighbours and never hesitate to lend a helping hand.

We are looking forward to writing more about these and other inspiring Airdronians in 2012. We can’t wait to meet new people and tell the stories of others who are making a difference in the community and the world.

Congratulations and happy New Year to all our newsmakers and all the other residents who quietly change the world for the better.
