The Winning Airdrie Businesses series profiles the four recipients of the 2011 Winning Edge Awards, an awards program organized by the Airdrie Business Resource Partnership. The videos were part of the prize package for the Winning Edge Award winners.
“Recognizing and promoting Airdrie businesses is a priority for us,” said Kent Rupert, team leader of Airdrie Economic Development.
“The videos are another way for us to showcase our dynamic and diverse business community. Airdrie Now TV profiles Airdrie as a preferred location for new business as well as creates awareness with residents about the services available locally.”
Tamara Laschinsky, owner of Natural e Green and 2011 Eco Edge Award recipient, said the video is a benefit to home-based businesses like hers.
“The business profile video really captured what Natural e Green is all about and has provided my customers with a chance to see my business as a whole,” she said.
“Being awarded the Eco Edge Award was wonderful and very rewarding and having Airdrie Economic Department offer to do this video really exceeded my expectations.”
Al Jones, co-owner of Advance Distribution/Here’s the Scoop, which was the 2011 Winning Edge Award recipient, said he hopes the video attracts other businesses to Airdrie.
“The more businesses there are in Airdrie, the better it is for our business and the better it is for the community as a whole,” he said.
“The business community in Airdrie is a generous one. The schools, sports groups, churches and other groups in Airdrie benefit from a healthy business community.”
Dick Buchanan, owner of Air-Alta Insurance, who won 2011 Business Leader Award, said Airdrie is the best community in the world to do business.
“These videos give a bit of a window into the kind of people that are in Airdrie,” he said. “It is a wonderful group of people that are leaders. People from all over bring their experience to the community and that is what makes it wonderful. There is no place in Alberta, Canada or the world like it.”
The videos can be found on Airdrie Now TV and also include Grow with Us Retail & Consignment, which won the 2011 Family Friendly Business Award Recipient.
Airdrie Now TV was developed three years ago as part of Airdrie Economic Development’s marketing strategy.
“With the rise of social media, video is an important tool in communicating the Airdrie advantage to other businesses,” said Rupert.
