Alderman invites residents to have their say
Re: “City should give residents a curbside recycling discount,” Dec. 28
Dear Editor,
The City of Airdrie has an Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) that advises council in the design and promotion of practical programs to enhance Airdrie’s environment.
The board is responsible for providing advice on environmental programs with the primary objective of reducing the amount of solid waste and development of environmental policies, procedures and educational programs. EAB consists of two members of council and five citizen members.
As chair of the City of Airdrie’s Environmental Advisory Board, I am always encouraged to see citizens discussing environmental issues in a public forum, as these are important issues for our community. I would also like to invite citizens, to consider adding their voices to the ongoing discussions at either an EAB meeting or a City council meeting.
Public input is essential to the process of determining City services, existing or proposed, and will assist in ensuring that the services we deliver are those best meeting the needs of Airdrie residents.
The EAB meets publicly the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Eastside recycle depot education centre (15 East Lake Hill).
Murray Buchanan, Airdrie Alderman
