A drug bust between 8 and 9 p.m., Feb. 10, netted Airdrie RCMP varying amounts of cocaine, marijuana, psilocybin (mushrooms), and various trafficking equipment.
Police have charged two men and one woman, all in their 20’s, after raiding a home on Eldorado Road.
The men are charged with five counts of trafficking controlled substances, possessing cocaine and marijuana with intent to traffic and possession of marijuana. The woman faces charges of possessing marijuana and psilocybin.
The RCMP’s anonymous tip line was used in apprehending the trio and police say it’s a valuable tool.
“Through the assistance of the community we were able to identify people who may be linked to the drug trade,” said Const. Robert Frizzell.
While the number of grow-ops in Airdrie is in decline, Frizzell said there are street-level transactions performed.
“Street-level drug dealing is rather constant due to the nature of the industry,” he said. “It’s a supply and demand. There’s many street-level dealers around and we’re focusing our resources on them.”
Airdrie RCMP executed a search warrant Feb. 5 and arrested Anthony Dinh Nguyen, 35.
He has been charged with fraud over $5,000, uttering a forged document, theft of a vehicle and illegally possessing of government identity.
The charges relate to an incident last July when Nguyen purchased a 2010 Toyota RAV4 with a fake $25,000 bank draft from an Airdrie man.
The transaction was completed, although the victim had a family member covertly take photos of the man since he was suspicious of him.
