The City of Airdrie, in support of Airdrie’s bid to host the 2014 Alberta Summer Games Bid Committee, is asking residents to save the date of April 18.

The Selection Committee from Alberta Sport, Recreation, and Parks & Wildlife Foundation will tour several venues that day in an effort to determine if Airdrie is the right place to host the 2014 Alberta Summer Games.

Community support could help Airdrie win this bid and the City is asking residents to assist with the visit by having people come out to the facilities and cheer and show their support for the games. More information is available at www.2014airdriegames.ca

Rattie begins post-season

Local hockey star Ty Rattie and his Portland Winterhawks will open its WHL playoff campaign at home against the Kelowna Rockets on March 23.

Portland finished third in the Western Conference following the regular season, while Rattie amassed 121 points in 69 games, good for third in league scoring.
