Charity golf tournament to benefit Airdrie Food Bank
Astoria Asset Management Ltd. will be holding their annual charity golf tournament, June 19 at the Woodside Golf Course in Airdrie. Now in it’s fifth year, proceeds from the tournament will once again benefit the Airdrie Food Bank.
“Lori McRitchie is the executive director (of the Food Bank), and she’s absolutely fantastic,” said Astoria Asset Management Owner Lorelai Talbot.
“We see what she does in the community and the support that they provide. It really supports our community and the individuals that need a hand up.”
The tournament raised more than $14,000 last year for the food bank, and after the organization’s funding was cut by the city, Talbot decided it would once again be a worthy cause for the golf tournament to support. She’s hoping to best last year’s total.
“We’re always looking to challenge ourselves to beat the past year,” she said.
“A lot of businesses and individuals have stepped forward, so we have been able to raise more each year. Raising $20,000 this year would be wonderful and would exceed my expectations.”
The tournament includes a prime rib dinner and a silent auction. The deadline for registration is June 11 and organizers are still looking for silent auction and cash donations, as well as hole sponsors and individual golfers to participate in the tournament.
