Airdrie McDonald’s Restaurants raised a total of $22,942 on May 2, during the McHappy Day fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House of Southern Alberta.

Volunteers and dignitaries from Airdrie participated, including the Airdrie Pro Rodeo Royalty, Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown, members of the local RCMP and Greg Bass from Rocky View Schools. One dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal and McCafe product went towards local Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Ronald McDonald House of Southern Alberta offers families a home-like place to stay while their children undergo treatment at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

McHappy Day Coordinator Dawn Wellspring said this year was as successful as past years.

“The incredible generosity of our customers, the enthusiasm of our employees and the assistance of our celebrity volunteers helped our restaurants support the activities of Ronald McDonald House of Southern Alberta,” Wellspring said.

“Their efforts directly impact the lives of the children in our community, and we’re proud to be able to provide them with much-needed assistance.”

Since its inception, McHappy Day has raised more than $20 million.
