The Airdrie RCMP is looking for three suspects involved in what police are calling a “brazen” theft in the west parking lot of CrossIron Mills mall near the Laura store, July 10.

Around 1:10 p.m., a newer model, silver four-door car with tinted windows and what appears to be after-market rims approached a parked, white, four-door Hyundai Sonata, which police say was delivering a “significant amount” of jewelry to a store in the mall.

The four suspects allegedly slashed the tires, smashed the back passenger window, and stole the jewelry from the disabled vehicle.

Members from Airdrie’s Municipal RCMP, Airdrie General Investigation Section, Forensics Identification Services and Calgary Police Service’s Helicopter were deployed in an attempt to locate the suspects.

An older model dark silver minivan may have also been involved in the crime.

According to Airdrie RCMP’s Cst. Robert Frizzell, the act was caught on the mall’s security camera and police are reviewing the images. No other details had been released by press time.

Vehicles targeted

Airdrie RCMP is looking for suspects in a string of thefts from motor vehicles in the city. On July 5 at around 2:30 p.m., RCMP responded to a complaint where witnesses said they observed three people in an older model Dodge Caravan, with Alberta licence plate number FEU 217, targeting unattended vehicles in parking lots.

A male suspect, described as being 5’8” in height with a dark complexion and dark hair, wearing a maroon or grey hoodie with a logo on the back, was seen using a tool to punch out the locks of several vehicles and stealing property from within.

If you have information on any crime, contact Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.crimestoppers.ab.ca
