$26 K worth of vehicles stolen from Airdrie company

Police Notebook:

An all-terrain vehicle and a lawnmower, with a combined value of more than $26,000, was stolen from the Airdrie Tractorland location sometime in the night of July 29.

The Kubota RTV900 all-terrain vehicle and a Kubota BX2360V lawnmower were stolen from the business, located on Airdrie’s East Lake Crescent after a man gained entry to the compound by cutting a lock on the business’ chain-link fence.

The suspect, who was caught on the business’ security cameras, also caused damage to the ignition locks on several other vehicles in the compound before leaving.

The man involved in this crime is Caucasian, with fair skin and light coloured hair.

At the time of the theft he was wearing a black leather jacket, black T-shirt, blue jeans and dark footwear.

Weekend enforcement

Alberta Traffic Sheriffs, Conservation officers, Fish and Wildlife officers and commercial vehicle enforcement officers issued 5,140 tickets over the August long weekend.

Officers conducted check stops and off-highway vehicle compliance checks and enforced traffic laws, including the tougher provincial penalties for drivers with a blood alcohol content over .08.

Among the charges were 35 impaired driving charges, 202 other alcohol-related violations and 29 24-hour suspensions for alcohol or drug use, 3,556 speeding violations, 38 distracted-driving violations, 43 hazardous violations including dangerous driving and 666 violations ranging from having no insurance to driving while suspended.
