Festival organizers seeking volunteers for Airdrie's second annual event

ARTember, a city-wide celebration of the arts, is looking for your help.

The event, which will take place in multiple locations across Airdrie from Sept. 14 to 30, requires volunteers to come forward to make sure it is a success.

“It’s as simple as this: If you are planning on going anyway, why not volunteer your time to make sure it goes smoothly?” asked Linda Bruce, chair of Creative Airdrie, the group organizing the 17-day event.

Volunteers are needed for a number of events including the Cooper’s Twilight Carnival held at the park and pond space in the community of Cooper’s Crossing. It will be a fun-filled outdoor evening event for the whole family celebrating arts and parks. Activities include a children’s carnival, food, live entertainment and the launching of traditional floating lanterns. Fireworks will cap off the evening.

Bruce said volunteers will be helping light lanterns, organize children’s events and answering questions.

“In Airdrie, we all know that we have great volunteers so this is just a chance for those people to volunteer again,” she said.

“If you have never volunteered before, come and give it a try.”
