Bingham Crossing will be a benefit
We feel Rocky View County council’s decision to proceed with the Bingham Crossing development in Springbank is a good one.
We support this decision for two main reasons.
First, it is important rural seniors have the ability to stay in the community they helped build.
Seniors housing is desperately needed in almost every quadrant of the county and this is a good start to providing what will only be a growing demand for this service.
It has been proven that seniors who stay close to their support systems, in communities they have ties to, tend to live longer and healthier lives.
Second, it is also imperative that communities such as Springbank have a downtown or hub where residents can gather and share their opinions, have a coffee or pick up a jug of milk.
When communities have centres that residents can come together in, great things happen. People tend to volunteer their time to local causes, build a sense of pride in their community and view their town/hamlet/village as something more than a place to sleep.
