Airdrie home to new manufacturing company
Airdrie is home to a new manufacturing company.
Mirolin Industries Corp., a Masco Company, celebrated the grand opening of a new acrylic manufacturing and distribution centre located in Airdrie’s East Lake Industrial Park, Sept. 12. The 150,000-square-foot facility is the company’s first in Western Canada.
“It’s been very exciting,” said Dominic Primucci, president of Mirolin Industries. “Airdrie has been a great place to do business.”
Mirolin manufactures acrylic tubs and showers in a variety of styles. The company sells to both wholesale and retail companies, such as Wolsey, Lowes and Home Hardware, serving both the new home and renovation markets.
The Airdrie location has more than 40,000 square feet dedicated to manufacturing and has about 60 employees, the bulk of which are from Airdrie and area. The company is hoping to double that number within the next 18 months.
Mirolin took possession of the building in June 2011 and started producing its first product last April. At full capacity, it will produce about 700 units each day.
Mirolin has evolved into a Canadian bath industry leader over the past 40 years, operating out of two Toronto facilities totalling 250,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space.
The move into Airdrie has the company poised for an expansion of its sales into Western Canada.
“We offer a complete product assortment nationally and are now strategically positioned to be the leading national acrylic tub and shower brand in Canada,” said Primucci. “We’ve seen an ever-increasing demand (for our products) and we are excited about the future.”
Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown was on hand for the grand opening celebration.
“They are all about quality, so I am very excited they chose Airdrie,” said Brown. “I am thrilled for their employees.”
Airdrie Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lorna Hunt, who was also at the grand opening, echoed Brown’s comments.
“To have a big employer come and revitalize an older building is excellent for Airdrie,” she said. “We were thrilled to be invited.”
