Humans Society hosting halloween event

The Wild Rose Humane Society is holding a Trick-for-a-Treat fundraiser in Nose Creek Park, Oct. 27.

Participants are invited to come in Halloween garb and dress up their dog or cat and take part in a costume parade through the park. After the parade there will be sponsor booths set up to visit, as well as a number of children’s games and games for your pet to partake in.

“Anyone can enter, we do not discriminate against the dog-less,” said society President Katie Jackson. “We will have prizes for the best tricks, and some kids games in the park.”

The society is keeping quiet about the possibility of building a shelter on local lands, but organizers said this fundraiser is a good kick-off to raising the funds needed to build a facility.

“We have been approached with some land, but don’t want to talk too much about it,” said Jackson. “We will have to come up with the money to build the facility on it, so this is a great first step.”

Jackson said the organization is still looking for sponsors to support the event, but said she hopes to see a lot of people in the park on Oct. 27.

“This is going to be a great family event, it will be a fantastic spectator event, come out and see the costumes,” said Jackson. “The Humane Society is in the best position to make this shelter a reality, this will be a great step forward.”
