Mustangs volleyball win Calgary tournament

The George McDougall Mustangs senior boys volleyball won the Ernest Manning Invitational Volleyball tournament, Sept. 29, defeating the Bert Church Chargers in a three-set gold medal final. The St. Martin de Porres Kodiaks also attended the 12-team tournament, but lost in the bronze medal match to Ernest Manning High School from Calgary.

Around Rocky View

The Bert Church Chargers senior girls volleyball team won its first game of the season in three sets against the Beiseker Bandits, who back in the Rocky View Sports Association (RVSA) league after a year-long hiatus.

Xtreme

The Airdrie Xtreme dropped its latest two games. The team lost 4-2 to the Calgary Royals, Sept. 26, in Calgary and lost 3-2 to the Calgary Bisons, Sept. 30, in Airdrie. Jordan McConnell scored a goal in each game while Jared Janke scored against the Royals and Adam Tisdale added a goal against the Bisons.

The Xtreme’s next home game will be Oct. 14 against the Lethbridge Golden Hawks. Game time is 1 p.m. at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.
