Small Business Week celebrations begin

Airdrie’s business community will be celebrated during Alberta Small Business Week, Oct. 15 to 20, with a number of events, workshops and awards.

“We have a very strong and generous small business community in Airdrie,” said Mayor Peter Brown. “They are key to the local economy providing not only employment, but volunteerism and support to our community events and organizations.”

Airdrie’s Small Business Week will kick-off with a networking luncheon on Oct. 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the Woodside Golf Course. Attendees will have a buffet lunch and an opportunity to network. Those interested can register at www.airdriechamber.ab.ca

On Oct. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Airdrie City Hall, the City’s EDD will be hosting a free webinar. Start your Business Webinar has information to help entrepreneurs get their business off to a good start. Those interested can register at www.airdrienow.ca

Airdrie Resource Business Partnership, which is made up of the City’s EDD, Airdrie Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and Community Futures Centre West, is hosting a small business expo, Oct. 16 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Cam Clark Ford. The free event, Connect for Success, will feature roundtable discussions, vendors and Airdrie experts. Pre-registration is recommended at www.abrponline.com

On Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Rotary Room in Genesis Place, ED is hosting a workshop. Attendees at Productivity 101, which is meant to help businesses become more productive, will work through the results of a Productivity Assessment Tool with experts and walk away with a custom 120-Day Productivity Action Plan. A $10 payroll, financial or retirement planning and Canada Pension Plan seminar will be put on Oct. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Airdrie City Hall. Those interested can register at www.airdriechamber.ab.ca

The week will wrap up with the 15th annual Winning Edge Awards Gala. The event will take place Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Woodside Golf Course. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.abrponline.com
