Thank you from the Airdrie Summer Classic Charity Car Show

Oct 24, 2012 06:00 am

Dear Editor,

The Time Travellers Car Club of Airdrie would like to thank all of the volunteers who contributed to this year’s Airdire Summer Classic Charity Car Show (Aug. 11).

This year we had more than 70 volunteers to bring this show to life. The show brought in 364 registered vintage and classic automobiles, in excess of 5,000 spectators and 305 bags of non-perishable food items for the Airdrie Food Bank as well as $13,000 that was donated to local charities. Many thanks to all the spectators who contributed.

The Car Club would also like to acknowledge the following major sponsors for their contributions to this years success: Airdrie Autobody, Airdrie Autowerks, All Fitts, PartsSource (17th Ave 37 St. Calgary), Sunridge Mazda, BabyTooth Bambino’s, Boston Pizza (Airdrie), Nathans Famous Hot Dogs (Airdrie), Cascade Vans and Interiors, Cap It Big Steel, Pattison Outdoor Advertising, Air 106.1, TD Canada Trust, Bumper to Bumper/Par Auto (Airdrie) and of course Paul for providing the sound system and all the other sponsors who supported the show.

This year the following charities received much needed support through the generosity of our sponsors and spectators: Airdrie Food Bank, Airdrie and District Victims Assistance, Airdrie and District Hospice Society, Stephen’s Backpacks Society, Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation, Tails to Tell Animal Rescue and The Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program.

Of course if it wasn’t for the City of Airdrie allowing the Car Club to have the car show on the grass at Nose Creek Park none of this would be possible. Also, a special thank you to the Airdrie RCMP who have participated for two years running now to the delight of many spectators.

Susan Urquhart, Airdrie
