Airdrie Public Library (APL) offers numerous programs and services for the community, and we also provide space for other organizations to reach out to the community through workshops and presentations.

This fall, Alberta Health Services (AHS) is putting on several Wellness Information Sessions, aimed at sharing knowledge, compassion, experience and resources, as well as fostering positive coping skills and better understanding of a variety of issues, such as depression and anxiety.

Anxiety Reduction, set for Oct. 30, deals with the physical symptoms and patterns of thinking associated with anxiety. Also provided will be relaxation techniques and strategies for changing anxious thinking patterns.

To wrap up the series, a workshop entitled Communication Styles will be held Nov. 6. This session focuses on a vital facet of everyone’s life, with information provided on differing styles of communication, a better understanding of which can help lessen frustration.

Each workshop runs 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The sessions are free, but registration is required. To register, call 403-948-3878.

And don’t forget to stop by Oct. 27, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., for our Free Family Fun Saturday Stories & Crafts. The theme is Halloween, so get ready to have a spookily good time. After all, your library is much more than just booooooooks!
