Airdrie RCMP arrest heavily intoxicated man

On Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m., the Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit was called to a report of an intoxicated driver travelling southbound along Highway 2 north of Airdrie.

Numerous reports were called in by concerned drivers who witnessed the erratic driving of the man behind the wheel of the red Buick Allure.

Upon stopping the 59-year-old Calgary man, it was determined he was heavily intoxicated and was arrested on the scene. RCMP officers took breath samples which showed the driver had a blood alcohol content of more than three times the legal limit.

“The amount of alcohol this individual would have had to consume to produce such a high reading should have left no doubt in his mind that he should not be driving,” said Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit Sheriff Jason Graw.

“Fortunately in this case, several other motorists noticed the driving pattern of the vehicle and contacted authorities before a tragedy occurred.”

Impaired driving charges have been laid against the driver, and his operator’s licence has been suspended until the charges are resolved in court.

Man arrested for theft

Airdrie RCMP and Airdrie RCMP General Investigations Unit have made an arrest following a series of residential break-ins and thefts in various locations around the city.

Between Oct. 16 and 22, RCMP responded to three separate break-and-enter complaints in the neighbourhoods of Thorburn, Coopers, and Bayside.

After a thorough investigation, 27-year-old Tylor Jennings of Irricana was charged with three counts of break and enter, one count of possession of break and enter instruments, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon and thirty counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
