Airdrie’s Community Links is hosting Wine Down, a fundraising event for residents ages 18 years and older at the Woodside Golf Course at 7 p.m. on Nov. 16.

Tickets for Wine Down are $25 each and include a glass of wine, tapas service and live entertainment by local SLAM in Airdrie performers.

“It’s a great opportunity to get out and enjoy an evening out,” said Laurie Jacob-Toews, community development services manager for Community Links. “It is great for us to be able to share what we are doing in the community.”

The event will also feature a silent auction with items donated by local businesses and individuals.

Proceeds from the event will support Community Links’ children’s programming.

According to Jacob-Toews, organizers are still looking for more auction items and will accept them until Nov. 9.

Organizers are also planning games, entertainment and a 50/50 draw during the evening. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the programs and services Community Links offers.

Offerings include family violence prevention workshops and activities; short-term childcare respite; Roots of Empathy, a program that involved bringing a baby to a classroom to teach students about empathy; services for seniors including educational presentations and workshops.

Tickets for a prize draw, for a return trip for two anywhere that WestJet flies, are currently on sale at Community Links, located at 112 First Ave. for $10. The draw will be will be made at 9 p.m. on the night of the event.

“We wanted to create an event where people can spend the evening socializing in a comfortable environment, taking time for themselves, and hopefully finding some great Christmas gift ideas through the silent auction,” said Tom Pfaffinger, co-chair of the fund development committee for Community Links.

Community Links supports more than 11,000 people each year through its educational, counselling, networking and referral and resource services.
