Valentine's trade show to become annual event
Small-town business is the focus of Airdrie’s newest tradeshow.
The Valentine’s event runs Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Airdrie Legion and will showcase 23 small business vendors.
“We moved here because of the small-town feel,” said Lisa Kelly, organizer of the event.
“But it feels as if they’ve been pushed under the mat a bit because of Walmart and other chains,” she said.
“So that’s why we are doing this.”
She said the vendor spots were completely booked within the first four days of registration.
“There’s such a demand,” Kelly said of promoting small businesses.
The trade show is called Heart to Heart and will have a Valentine’s theme.
Events include hourly door prizes, raffle, face painters and a spin-to-win contest.
Kelly said the featured charity will be the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
All of the proceeds from the spin-to-win and half of the proceeds from the snack bar will be donated to the organization.
Vendors will showcase a mix of merchandise including artwork, women and children’s home fashions, Tupperware and jewelry.
The event is free to enter.
“We really want to promote small-town business in Airdrie,” she said.
