Nose Creek Players theatre group looking for more members

Feb 21, 2013 01:03 pm | Dawn Smith

Airdrie’s theatre group the Nose Creek Players is looking for people to join their growing family.

“We are actively looking for board members to help us further our reach and influence,” said Kim Cheel, president of the Nose Creek Players. “Whether you’re a longtime patron of the arts, or just want to get involved in a community group, we’d be glad to have you.”

Cheel said the board is looking for help in the day-to-day operations of the group, which was created about a 18 months ago.

The board, which meets once a month, currently has six members and the group is all about supporting emerging artists and providing performance opportunities.

“We are a very inclusive group,” said Cheel, adding the time commitment is minimal and flexible.

“We just need passion and a desire to share life with people.”

Cheel said the group is an important part of Airdrie.

“Theatre is the voice of a community and in its original form, theatre was how people were informed,” she said. “It brings the community together. People that just need to take a step away from their life can come and be with other people. Suddenly life seems a lot less lonely.”

Cheel said the group has continued to grow exponentially.

“We are grateful for all the opportunity the City of Airdrie and its residents have provided us to entertain and inform,” she said.

“We are proud to be a member of the community of Airdrie and look for further opportunities where we can show our pride and support.”
