We have to be honest with ourselves, make sacrifices and take back responsibility
Dear Editor,
Alberta is going into debt; we have a liberal premier leading a conservative party turned red. How did we get here? Did we elect a wolf in sheep’s clothing? I don’t think so. It’s time to look in the mirror. We allowed ourselves to believe that checking a box on a ballet marked conservative makes us conservative. We have slipped into liberal socialism, demanding the “nice thing” the government provides (overpasses, schools, parks, heath centres) at the expense of our freedom.
How can we expect to have a leader that will balance the budget if we are unwilling to give up the handouts that we love and continue to look to the province to fund and fix all of our local wants?
If we truly want change, it will take more than a new party, which may bring change for a short time, but will be eventually corrupted by our demands just as our old parties were.
We have to be honest with ourselves, make sacrifices and take back responsibility.
We need to speak up so our children and our grandchildren don’t have to deal with the mess that we leave behind.
DALLAS LAMMIMAN,
Airdrie
