City survey says residents happy
We are glad to see Airdrie is one of the top three municipalities in Alberta for citizen satisfaction, according to a recent City survey. (See story on page 10).
An incredible 100 per cent of residents surveyed said they feel safe walking alone in their neighbourhood in the day.
Ninety-six per cent of respondents rated the overall quality of life in Airdrie as good or very good.
This says a lot about City staff. Everyone from firefighters, to team leaders, to front-end staff to council is working together to ensure Airdronians’ needs are met.
This does not mean there are not certain services we are lacking such as 24-hour health care (19 per cent listed this as their top concern) and school space (18 per cent of listed this as their top concern), but these are provincial issues and Airdrie councillors are doing their best to lobby the Province for this infrastructure.
We were a bit disheartened with the fact that 73 per cent of respondents indicated they are not interested in having more involvement in civic issues.
Even if you are pleased with the municipal services you receive, it is important to provide input to ensure the City continues to focus on the amenities that are important to you.
In short, keep up the good work Airdrie.
