Airdrie Rodeo Grounds set to host third annual Bikes and Bulls event
The Airdrie rodeo grounds will be busy once again this summer, this time playing host to the third annual Bikes and Bulls Charity Event and Concert.
The event, which is hosted by the Airdrie Oilmen’s Association (AOA), will include professional bull riding, a bike rodeo, and live concerts. A show-and-shine and beer gardens will also be on-site throughout the weekend.
“(We wanted to) take the time to really benefit the community,” said Adrian Pruden, AOA president. “Anything we can do to better the city.”
Proceeds from the event this year will go to benefit Airdrie Community Links, Airdrie Food Bank and Airdrie and District Victims Assistance Society.
Live music this year will include performances from Aerosmith tribute band Aerosmith Rocks and Bon Jovi tribute band Blaze of Glory. Free self-contained camping will also be available.
“We’ve got some new people that have really energized this event,” Pruden said. “We’ve got new bands and new formats and additions to the program that we’re really excited about.”
Since the AOA was formed, the association has raised around $53,000 for charities around Airdrie. Organizers are hoping to exceed the amount raised and attendance level of last year’s event.
“We’re excited – obviously we’re holding the event to benefit the charities,” Pruden said. “We’ve got a good group of guys within the association, and everyone’s got the same goal. We’re really looking to benefit and better the community.”
The event will be held on Aug. 23 and Aug. 24 at the Airdrie Rodeo Grounds. A weekend pass will cost $20.
