Hockey challenge is a great event
We want to congratulate Wild Rose MP Blake Richards and everyone who was involved in organizing the fifth annual Rocky Mountain Hockey Challenge for its success. (See story on page 22).
After having to reschedule from June to August and relocate from Springbank to Cochrane due to flooding in southern Alberta, the event raised more money than ever at a whopping $85,352, bringing the total raised for local victims assistance programs over five years to $280,351.
During the flooding, first responders and people who help those in need were working day and night to keep residents safe, give them somewhere to stay, assist them in dealing with losing everything they owned and helping them rebuild their lives.
We are thrilled to see this much support go back to those who selflessly give their time and resources to help others.
Organizers even took the extra step of giving first responders free admittance into the game.
We thank Richards, organizers and everyone who participated in and attended the event for giving to this worthy cause.
