Bass Pro Shops celebrates last days of summer with festival
As parents prepare their children for back to school, Bass Pro Shops in CrossIron Mills mall is gearing up to celebrate every last drop of summer fun with their Labour Day Hometown Festival on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
From noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the shop will be transformed into a free family fun zone.
“With every big sale, we always have an event for kids just to involve them in the store as well,” said Natasha Luey, who does promotions for the store.
She said the location will have the Bass Pro Shops Daisy Shooting Range open, a duck pond game where kids have the chance to scoop a duck with a net to win a prize, crafts for kids such as colour a duck, along with free hotdogs and ice cream samples.
There will also be a photo area where families can download a free picture that looks like they are behind the wheel of Tony Stewart’s #14 Bass Pros Shops car.
“The whole family can be involved,” Luey said of the festival activities.
The event will also have cooking seminars each day for what Luey calls more camping-based cooking.
At 1:30 p.m. on both days, Smokin’ – Tips for successful meat smoking will be offered free to anyone showing up to attend.
Then, at 2:30 p.m., a free seminar on outdoor grilling – choosing the right grill will be held.
Following that at 3:30 p.m., the seminar will be on dutch oven cooking – tips for outdoor cooking.
All seminars are free and do not require registration.
Participants in the festival can also register in store to win one of three $25 gift cards to be given away both days.
Luey said this is a great family event and encourages people to stop by and enjoy.
“Come in and enjoy the store,” she said.
“You don’t have to shop but just come in and explore.”
