Sharp Hill resident has no problem with short cuts, just speeders
Re: “Resident doesn’t want Sharp Hill drivers in Airdrie,” Aug. 22
In response to the comments in the recent Airdrie City View about putting up a gate to keep people from Sharp Hill off Airdrie roads… I think people have lost sight of the main concern about traffic in Sharp Hill.
I live in Sharp Hill and have no problem with people using Sharp Hill as a short cut. The real concern I have, is the speed at which some people drive through Sharp Hill. The posted speed limit in Sharp Hill is 50 km/h. However, every time my wife and I go for a walk around Sharp Hill, we see drivers speeding through, well over the posted speed limit.
There was even an incident last year where a family was walking and had to jump into the ditch to avoid being hit by a speeding car. Maybe the speed limit should be reduced to 30 km/hr.
All I ask, if you drive through Sharp Hill, slow down please… if not, it’s only going to be a matter of time before someone gets injured or even killed - makes sense to me.
