Member of Team Airdrie United clarifies their stance
In response to the misinformation being communicated by a small but vocal minority in our city, I wanted to clarify that myself, Angela Pitt, Kevin Hughes and Mike De Bokx (Team Airdrie United) have never said we would act as a voting block on council.
We have simply said we will work tirelessly to make establishing 24-hour health care a priority of council, that we will ensure new developments have more green space, wider streets and more diversity of housing choices and that we will put ĎAirdrieís citizens firstí by improving traffic safety with new traffic signals at key intersections and other needed infrastructure.
We chose to campaign together because we felt it would give us a louder voice in an otherwise potentially quiet campaign (with no mayoralty race) and could more effectively bring issues to the forefront that we are all very concerned about.
The four of us wonít agree on everything nor will we always agree on the means by which to move towards these goals. We will treat every vote independently according to the dictates of our individual conscience.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope that my comments have provided a better understanding of who we are and why we are working together through this campaign. I encourage all citizens to come out and vote on Oct. 21.
Jane Anderson, Airdrie
