Residents invited to recycle their pumpkin and stay for some fun
Airdrie residents are invited to the third annual Pumpkin Bash at the Eastside Recycle Depot on Nov. 3 from noon to 3 p.m.
“There will be pumpkin bowling, pumpkin smashing and arts and crafts for kids of all ages,” said Shayne Hartin, team lead of the City’s Waste and Recycling Services.
“The event will include free popcorn and a garbage truck will be on display for kids to check out.”
The event is designed to encourage residents to recycle their Halloween pumpkins at the recycling depot.
“We send them to a compost processor and last year we kept seven tons of pumpkins out of landfills,” said Hartin.
Each year, the event attracts between 25 and 50 children.
Entrance to the Pumpkin Bash event is free.
