Dear Editor,

2014 is well under way and the Airdrie Parade & Fireworks Committee is working hard to bring four exciting events to the community.

The 2014 Canada Day Parade on July 1 is followed by the fireworks show at dusk. The theme for the parade this year is “Celebrating the Summer Games.” For December, we are working on our third Santa Claus Parade, (hoping for warmer weather) and also the New Year’s Eve Fireworks show.

Watch for details on our website at on Facebook at and on Twitter at

We are looking for community-minded citizens and businesses/corporations to step up and sponsor some of our events. We have a wide range of sponsorship packages from $500 to $15,000. Interested persons can email me at or call me at 403-948-2741.

We are also looking for community-minded citizens and organizations to help out as volunteers for any of the four events. Interested persons can email me at

Our intent is to make these four events bigger and better each year and we can do that with the help of our community minded Airdrie and area citizens.

Stewart McLeish,

Chairperson of Airdrie Parade & Fireworks Committee
