Re: “Formerly abused woman receives help from local church,” March 27
Thank you for running the story on page 16 of last week’s paper about “Sara,” a mom with six children, a victim of domestic violence; who fears every day that her children will be homeless.
A key part in that article for us was “Unity in the Community.” Our family attends Genesis Church, a great and humble kids church and we have supported the bottle drives for this great cause. We were really touched by the overwhelming response from families wanting to help.
I can’t imagine what it would be like to have lived in fear for so many years and now that Sara had the courage to remove her family away from that; she lives in fear of not having a home for her beautiful six children.
I know that we all have burdens and trials in our very busy lives but we need to unite and rally around not just Sara but all the Saras out there who have not come forward and still live in fear and abuse. In the process of healing from the pain of being a victim; we need to rally to her cause and show her that she and her children are cared for and do not need to live in fear any longer.
We have worked hard to give gifts of hope and help end family homelessness through Stephen’s Backpacks in our community and in communities across Alberta. Let’s stop it together before it happens.
Donate your bottles, your cheque or your time to this great cause.
