It’s that time of year again, when the weather finally begins to warm up and residents gather their unused goods to sell at garage sales. On April 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Footprints for Learning Academy is taking the standard garage sale to new heights with the school’s 30-table garage sale and fundraiser.
“It’s a garage sale and a home business fair,” said Anita Magis, mother to a Footprints student and part of the school’s fundraising committee. “It’s open to people who want to sell used stuff or promote their home business.”
She said about half of the tables at the event are people selling their used goods but the remaining half are being rented by home businesses such as Stella & Dot, Norwex, Peakaboo Beans, Epicurious, Scentsy and more.
The event takes place in the school’s gym, which means garage sale enthusiasts won’t have to battle the elements if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
She said the money from the rental of the tables will go towards the purchase of the 30 tables so the school can use them for future events, but all other money raised will go towards the purchase of a floor cover for the school’s gym.
Magis said the fundraising committee is also currently raising funds for new laptops for the school but said the primary goal of this event is the floor cover.
“Come support our school,” Magis said, “You might find a great treasure.”
Footprints for Learning Academy is located at 102- 2926 Kingsview Blvd. and has about 200 students enrolled in the school. The school is currently a kindergarten to Grade 7 school but will expand to a kindergarten to Grade 8 school next year and to a kindergarten to Grade 12 school in the future.
