Health care should be priority

We are glad to see Airdrie MLA Rob Anderson and Alderman Allan Hunter stay true to their word by bringing a 24-hour health care petition to the legislature. (See story on page 3).

We were surprised, however, that said petition had only 2,400 signatures on it.

It seems everyone we talk to is upset about the lack of all-hours health care in Airdrie, yet only about five per cent of residents took the time to sign the petition.

Anderson and Hunter plan to present another petition on the same topic to the Legislature in the fall with at least the same number of signatures but we encourage them to aim higher.

When this is a topic you overhear residents talking about at a coffee shop, see over and over again on social media sites and it makes its way into local and regional media time and time again, it must be important to more than five per cent of the city’s population.

This affects all Airdrie and area residents.

Come on Airdrie, if this is important to you, sign the petition at
