The results are in.

After six weeks of competition between six communities in the Highland Primary Care Network (HPCN), Crossield has been crowned the winners of the 2014 Health Challenge.

Crossfield edged out Didsbury, Irricana and Airdrie in the challenge, which saw participants logging their points through an online profile that kept track of their daily health and wellness activities.

Those activities included things such as taking the stairs or walking to appointments instead of driving, or certain workout routines.

“The participants in Crossfield really got into the challenge, and it shows,” HPCN Executive Director Micheline Nimmock said in a press release.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the Health Challenge celebration event in their community,” she added.

In addition to winning bragging rights as the healthiest community in the HPCN for the next 12 months, Crossfield will be the hosts to a celebration on May 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Community Hall in Crossfield.

The event will include family activities, live music, and prizes.

For more information on the wrap-up event, visit the HPCN’s website at www.hpcn.ca

The HPCN health challenge, which also included Beiseker and Cremona, ran from Feb. 21 to April 14.
