Re: “Resident not in favour of blue bin petition,” Letter April 17

Dear Editor,

In response to the resident not in favour of blue bin petition:

As a recent resident to Airdrie, I applaud Candi Strohan’s efforts in her petition for blue bins. Having lived in a similar-sized town in Ontario, a City blue bin recycling program had been in place for many years.

We were shocked when we arrived in Airdrie and realized that the town did not currently have a recycling program in place. While I understand that the company Kick It To The Curb will pick up recycling for a reasonable price, not all residents of Airdrie will choose to pay to recycle.

However, recycling pick-up should be a service that a growing town like Airdrie provides to residents.

Recycling is an important part in sustaining the environment and if all residents contribute it will help make Airdrie a wonderful place to live now and in the future.

Nicole Norton,
