Teens, summer is almost here and Airdrie Public Library (APL) is once again encouraging your participation at your library with a poster contest.

The idea is for you to design a poster for the 2014 Teen Library Experience that will encourage other teens to get involved with their local public library this summer. Itís a chance for you to express through your artwork what you love about your library. Is it hanging out with your friends? Picking up a favourite movie or the latest book in a popular series? Downloading new music? Gaming? Going online to check out new sites or visit on Facebook? Whatever it is that expresses your library experience, we want to see your creativity and originality. Topping it off, the grand prize is a $100 gift card to CrossIron Mills mall.

The contest is open to youths aged 12 to 18 who have a library card from a Marigold Library System library. The poster should be on a letter-sized paper and be totally original, whether sketches, drawings, paintings, digital designs or photographs. The entry deadline is May 23.

More details and a submission form are available at APL or online at

Coming up this week at APL: Adult Author Series with Ian Wilson and Jacinthe Lavoie on May 15 from 7 to 8:15 p.m.; Teens in the Library: Manga mania on May 16 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. APL will be closed May 19, for Victoria Day.
