Looking back at Alberta flood 2013

It’s hard to believe it has been a year since the most devastating natural disaster to hit Alberta in recent memory. (See story on page 8).
Only 12 short months ago, we were privileged to witness residents coming together for those in need. Airdronians, who were fortunate enough not to be in the direct path of the flooding, donated time, money, food, toys, clothing and much more to communities who were hit hard and residents who lost their homes and everything in them.
Locals weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty cleaning out gallons of filthy water and destroyed furniture, drywall and possessions from homes in High River, Calgary, Bragg Creek and other communities.
Airdrie’s non-profit organizations also came to bat for those in need with the food bank turning their largest fundraiser of the year into a support program for flood victims as just one example.
We are proud of you Airdrie for stepping up once again for those in need.
