Canada Day a huge success

If there is one thing Airdrie residents know how to do it’s party.
The city was abuzz with activity last weekend with the kick off of the Airdrie Pro Rodeo on June 27 and carrying on until July 1.
Five days of cowboy hats, boots and buckles; bronc riding; roping; barrel racing; Rodeo Royalty; entertainment; children’s activities and more brought friends, family, neighbours and strangers together to celebrate all things Albertan.
Then the celebration of Canada’s 147th birthday saw hundreds of residents come out to the annual Canada Day parade on Main Street.
But the fun didn’t stop when the last float rode by. There were at least five barbecues that new City View Reporter Christina Waldner attended.
Residents either slaved over a hot barbecue flipping burgers and hot dogs or stood in line to get their grub and all for great causes - to support non-profit organizations in and around Airdrie.
All of these events also required the hard work and dedication of countless volunteers. People who gave up their day off to work for the betterment of their community.
Thank you Airdrie for showing your pride in Canada and celebrating like champs.
