Dear Editor,

The people of Airdrie who are helping with search for the three missing people (Alvin Liknes, Kathy Liknes and Nathan O’Brien) are to be commended for their efforts not condemned on social media.

If you’ve got something to say to someone, do it face-to-face not hiding behind social media.

The searchers are dedicated members of the community and are the first ones to step up if someone needs help.

The critics on social media cannot offer anything constructive and in a time of crisis would prefer not to get involved.

While the goal of the searchers is to help find the Liknes’ and O’Brien alive, it is also about building a stronger community, getting to know your neighbours and your neighbourhood.

I am grateful for neighbours such as those involved in the search and through them I have a greater appreciation of our neighbourhood. I am proud to call Airdrie home.

Leo Puerzer,
