Summer continues to be a busy time at Airdrie Public Library (APL). Our TD Summer Reading Club is going strong, with children aged five to 12 reading and participating in various activities all summer long. Two weeks remain in the program before the wrapup event Aug. 15. Next week’s theme is Making Music, while the final week’s theme is Taking the Stage.

Our drop-in Makerspace Fridays (at 10:30 a.m.) also continue to be popular. Aug. 1, is all about Other Worlds, with participants immersing themselves in their favourite fantasy worlds from their favourite books. The final Makerspace on Aug. 8, is a celebration of Music Friday, where participants can create music and rock out with their own musical instruments, as well as exploring different musical instruments from around the world.

For preschoolers, our drop-in Rhymes and Songs program will continue to run Monday through Thursday (with two sessions: 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. and 11 to 11:30 a.m.) until Aug. 14. Don’t forget our second Wednesday session offers sprinklings of Spanish and French!

For adults, our Chess and Knitters clubs are also meeting through the summer on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m., while the Scrabble Club meets Tuesdays from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m., and the Writers Club meets Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. Summer for the Tall, with movies, stories and Wii, will meet Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3 p.m., until Aug. 19.
