Airdronian looking for a family event on Aug. 9 can head down to the Airdrie Victory Church to take part in the second annual Family Fun Fest.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. and will run until 6 p.m. at the Chinook Winds Skate Park.

Pastor Akosa Acheampong will be helping put on the event which runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Chinook Winds Skate Park. Last year was the festival’s inaugural year and according to Acheampong, more than 600 took part in the festival.

“We’re expecting over 800 people this year,” Acheampong said.

“This festival promotes a more family friendly environment as we welcome all families to come and enjoy.”

Among some of the activities include face painting, dancing, balloon animals, a bouncy castle, and a free BBQ.

Acheampong said he’s “very excited” to help bring together Airdrie residents during the festival.

“What makes this event more unique is the great people of Airdrie that come together and show love to each other,” Acheampong said. “It’s bringing their families together and feeling free to have fun.”

Among some of the sponsors for the festival will be London Drugs, MacDonald’s, M&M Meat Shops, the Real Canadian Superstore, Airdrie City View, Century 21, Walmart and Sobey’s.

There will also be a Batting against Breast Cancer slo-pitch tournament taking place the same day at Chinook Winds ball diamonds.
