Main Street firehall should stay

How can you as a council even consider closing the Main Street firehall?
You cannot guarantee that the proposed closing down of the Main Street firehall will guarantee the safety of the citizens affected by the closing.
Response time cannot be guaranteed.
No one on council or the Airdrie Fire Department is prepared to say “I will be held responsible” if these citizens are in any way affected.
Your plans may look good on paper but that does not mean it will work. Planners have already expressed doubts.
Some citizens may be placed in jeopardy while other citizens will be assured excellent response times in case of a fire.
They will not worry about losing their homes and possessions because someone’s plan on paper failed to protect them in real life.
A plan they are not prepared to guarantee.
Your plans are to build a new firehall in this section of Airdrie at a location not yet decided but several blocks from the present Main Street firehall.
To protect all the citizens of Airdrie equally and fairly Main Street firehall should remain and the Williamstown firehall should be built as planned.
Firehalls are far more important than, rinks, swimming pools and soccer fields.
Airdrie council and City administrators have shown good judgment in keeping Airdrie supplied with the sporting facilities required for a growing community. They did it without putting one quadrant of the city at risk while ensuring better protection for another.
Not one rink, or soccer field, or swimming pool will save a life or provide fire protection for the property of our citizens. Firehalls do.
I do not recall a lot of opposition to building sport facilities in Airdrie. There is lots of opposition to closing the Main Street firehall but somehow we cannot get Airdrie council to say no to closing it.
The decision gets put off and put off. Is this because down deep inside you know closing it is the wrong decision?
It is the wrong decision. Many of us know and realize this but we cannot vote.
We rely on our elected council to treat us as equals and protect us all.
Citizens of Airdrie, I ask you to unite and come together as we did when volunteering for the 2014 Summer Games.
United we can protect all citizens equally. Let our Airdrie City council know that we say:
No to closing Main Street Firehall. Yes to Williamstown firehall. We are all equal and our tax dollars are not just for sporting facilities. Please protect us all.
