Library to wrap up Summer Reading Club

After a great summer of reading and exciting activities, the season is wrapping up for all the enthusiastic participants in the TD Summer Reading Club, and a fabulous celebration is planned.
On Aug. 15, Airdrie Public Library (APL) is hosting the reading club finale at Bert Church Theatre from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will offer fun for all with makerspace stations, a photo booth and prize packages and a grand prize draw for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. The highlight of the day will be a performance by popular a capella group Hoja, who will be performing in the auditorium 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. (No food or drink in the auditorium, please).
The event is for children aged five to 12 and their parents/caregivers. Admittance is $5 per person, and tickets are available at the door or in advance at the library.
For teens, this fall marks the beginning of a new project: a teen advisory committee. APL Youth Services Manager Maureen Feenstra is looking for input on the library’s young adult collection and programs. Participation on the committee allows teens a voice and a chance to influence how APL serves the teen community. The committee will meet every second Friday of the month at 3:30 p.m., with the first meeting set for Aug. 22 (pizza is on the agenda, too!).
The regular Teens in the Library program will run on the first Friday of the month from 3 to 4 p.m., with Sept. 12 designated for decorating The Den.
