Local business, 100 Worlds Preschool, will be hosting a free, family fun Children’s Day activities from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 24 at the Balzac Community Hall.

“We’re giving back to the community,” said Chantel Luterbach, the pre-school’s director. “Our customers are all young children.”

One of Airdrie’s newest pre-schools, 100 Words, has a host of events lined up for the day including children’s yoga, a fire truck on site for preschool kids to explore, live music, story time, and art activities. In addition, the first 200 guests will receive a free hot dog lunch.

“Everything is pretty much ready to go,” said Luterbach. “We’re hoping that families can get out in the community and see what’s there, so they can get together and meet new people,” she said.

Organizers have planned for 100 to 200 people to attend with enough food to accommodate 200 guests.

“The music academy (Folfeo Music Studio) that is coming up is going to be playing and they will have instruments for kids to use,” Luterbach said, adding organizers hope the festivities will be seen overall as a positive community event.

100 Worlds Preschool is located at 3 Stonegate Dr. NW In Airdrie, and prides itself on having smaller student to teacher ratios, fun and energetic learning environments, and sometimes three hour long class times. The school’s maximum child to teacher ratio is under seven to one.

The school’s core values include collaboration between teachers, children and parents to encourage greater learning experiences. Students take part in projects, staff observe and document children’s learning process and planned spaces are used to foster students’ ability to problem solve. Teachers also promote early literacy and mathematical concepts, focus, public speaking and a love of learning.

The event will be held at Balzac Community Hall on Highway 2, Township 566 in Balzac.
