Jason Kenney has only been the leader of the United Conservative Party (UCP) for a couple of weeks, and he’s already become embroiled in a contentious social issue. This is not a good sign of things to come. Just when I think Alberta is finally leaving the Stone Ages, we get a far-right political leader who threatens to send us back there again. Why can’t conservatives in this province elect people who are fiscally prudent and socially progressive? I don’t like everything the NDP has done, but compared to the alternatives, they are obviously still the best choice going forward.
