Magic is in the air

About 9 years ago one of my colleagues was thinning out her home library and asked if I would like to have her copies of the Harry Potter books.
Iím a sucker for a book series so I gladly accepted and started reading. I must admit that I did feel a bit foolish reading the first few books. I kept asking myself; why am I reading childrenís books? Once I got into book four I understood what all the hype was about.
By the time I got into book six I was staying up all night reading because I needed to know what happens next.
Itís interesting talking with people who were young when the first book came out in 1997. For many super-fans, they were eight-12 years old when the first book came out and the writing style of the books matured with them.
I can understand how the Harry Potter book series had a profound impact on the people in that age cohort. As someone who enjoyed the story I jumped at the chance to participate in The Wizarding World of Okotoks coordinated by the Okotoks Arts Council.
Iím really blown away by the enthusiasm and creativity that so many businesses and groups have shown for this.
The Wizarding World of Okotoks event on Saturday, October 28 is sure to be a magical experience with so many fun things to see and do.
