The Airdrie Community Choir sang for visitors to the Airdrie Festival of Lights, located in Nose Creek Park, on Dec. 8. The festival runs nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. throughout December and features a variety of performances and activities.

Airdrie and District Hospice Society lights up Tree of Hope

Dec. 1 marked not only the beginning of the Airdrie Festival of Lights 2014 season, but also was the date of a special ceremony to remember lost loved ones as the Airdrie and District Hospice Society lit up the Tree of Hope for a second year in a row. Participants could purchase a bulb on the tree in memory of a lost loved one.

Cedarwood Station's Sugar Plum Fair

The Hamlets at Cedarwood Station held their annual Sugar Plum Fair on Nov 29 in support of the Airdrie Lioness' Adopt-a-Family Christmas hamper program. There were 13 vendors at the Sugar Plum Fair ranging from small businesses to senior crafts.

Airdrie Lioness Adopt-a-Family Christmas hamper food drive

The Airdrie Lioness' held their annual food drive for the Adopt-a-Family Christmas hamper program on Nov. 29. Food was collected from outside of about 4,300 homes and brought to the old RCMP building on Edmonton Trail to be sorted. The Adopt-a-Family program will collecting for the hampers until Dec. 19. Airdrie Festival of Lights opens for another season

The Airdrie Festival of Lights plugged in and lit up on Dec. 1. The event will run nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. throughout December. The opening night included the unveiling of the Festival's newest light display - a train with a teddy bear conductor - from creator Shawnee Hoffman, Santa Claus greeting children, train rides and hot chocolate for chilly festival-goers.

Ralph McCall School's Craft and Bake Sale

Ralph McCall School in Airdrie had its ninth annual Craft and Bake Sale on Nov. 29 at the school. The sale benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Society and was first put together by school staff after a child at the school, Elliot Kettler, died from the disease in 2005.
