Century Downs Racetrack and Casino cancels New Year's Eve fireworks, burlesque show

Due to new COVID-related restrictions implemented by the Alberta Government on Dec. 21, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino has cancelled its burlesque dance performance and fireworks show that was slated for New Year's Eve.

Century Downs Racetrack and Casino has had to cancel its New Year's Eve firework show and burlesque performance.

Due to new COVID-related restrictions implemented by the Alberta Government on Dec. 21, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino has cancelled its burlesque dance performance and fireworks show that was slated for New Year's Eve.

"We will be offering a full reimbursement to everyone who purchased tickets to the burlesque show," stated a post on the Balzac-based casino's Facebook page. "Please watch for this refund on your credit card statement."

The statement went on to say Century Downs will still be offering a three-course dinner in the Derby Restaurant New Year's Eve for those who purchased the add-on meal. 

"We still plan on having some New Year's fun and will be giving away $2,022 at midnight," the post stated. "We will also have a hot seat draw from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and offering guests free champagne if they arrive between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m."

The burlesque show was called ‘Call Me Mother’ and would have featured Calgary’s Felicia Bonee,
