28 more COVID-19 recoveries reported in Airdrie

The number of COVID-19 cases in Airdrie continues to fluctuate – the city reported 28 more recoveries Dec. 2, bringing the active number of COVID-19 cases down to 271.

Since Dec.1, there have been 55 recoveries from the virus in Airdrie. 

According to the Alberta government's COVID-19 relaunch status map, Airdrie's active case rate has also decreased to 387 per population of 100,000, compared to 427 the previous day. There have been 979 total cases of COVID-19 reported in Airdrie, with 704 total recoveries and four deaths. The city's situation remains classified as "enhanced" and a mandatory mask-wearing bylaw remains in effect for indoor public places.  

Seven local schools are listed on the Province's COVID-19 school status map, down from 10 the day before. Windsong Heights School, Bert Church High School, George McDougall High School, Northcott Prairie School and Herons Crossing School are under "watch," with five or more active cases. École Edwards Elementary School and W.H. Croxford High school are listed as "open," with two to four active cases. Airdrie students in grades 7-12 continue to learn from home, while younger students are still involved with in-class learning.

Outside the city limits, Rocky View County has reported five recoveries from the virus since Dec. 2, bringing the total number of active cases in the county to 112. Rocky View County's case rate is currently 258 cases per 100,000 population. The region's situation remains classified as enhanced, and the County has mandated the wearing of masks in its public facilities and County hall, which will be closed to the public as of Dec. 7. 

In Chestermere, there are currently 69 active cases, down two from Dec. 2. Cochrane has reported 50 cases, up from 48 the day prior.

Two schools in Chestermere are listed on the Alberta government's COVID-19 School Statu Map – Chestermere Lake Middle School is under watch and Chestermere High School is under open.
